Some may think that it is easier to work at home because of the convenience it brings. You can work in your pyjamas, you don't have to endure the daily commute or interact with officemates who eat negativity for breakfast. Most, if not, all job orders are sent online, so if you have poor internet connectivity, you are defeating the purpose of why you're working at home in the first place. In addition, if you're planning to become a writer, a virtual assistant, a customer service specialist, a medical transcriptionist or programmer, among others, your productivity will suffer if your online connection is weak.
Lastly, your computer or laptop will be your best friend in this line of work. You have to ensure that the specs and features of your device adhere to your client's system requirements. Some companies that promote work from home opportunities provide laptops but if not, then you must search for the best gadget that will suit your needs.
After preparing yourself and the tools of the trade, don't forget to sit down and have a chat with your family. Explain the situation to your children and why you may need a little space and quiet time while you're working.
