Restraining yourself from regular peeing? Well, think twice.
You shouldn't prevent yourself from urinating as much as you need. Holding your urine for quite a long time is really unhealthy. Aside from the relief that you feel everytime you pee as well as the health benefits it brings you like flushing out those body toxins, your urine color partly determines the status of your health. So, the next time you pee, please care to check its color and see how well you do.
Your urine gets its yellow color from a pigment called urochrome. That color normally varies from pale yellow to deep amber, depending on the concentration of the urine. Darker urine is usually a sign that you're not drinking enough fluids.
Some thought that when their urine has no color or totally transparent, they're pretty much healthy. Uh, oh! No, this only means that you're drinking too much water and should decide to cut back liquid intakes. Darker yellow may still seem normal but you may opt to drink water more and often.
Amber or honey colored urine shows that you really have to drink enough amount of water as your body doesn't get what it basically needs.
Deep brown or brown ale urine may require you to see a physician as the risks of having a liver disease or severe dehydration may have been increased.
Pink or red may indicate blood in the urine. This could also be a sign of urinary tract infection, kidney or prostate problems, which definitely require you to seek professional help. Or perhaps, you've just consumed a huge quantity of beets and blueberries, not sure though! Still need to call a doctor.
Orange may mean that you've taken supplements or eaten foods that are high in vitamin C. Or this leaves you with no choice but to see a doctor right away as you may have some liver or bile duct condition.
Blue or green may be an unusual genetic issue, perhaps due to your medication, or certain bacteria infecting your urinary tract. Though this isn't really fatal, it's still a must that you contact your physician the soonest.
Having pale or transparent yellow urine? Well, congratulations! You're normal, healthy and well-hydrated.
