The much awaited showdown between reigning UFC Women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Bethe Correia will finally take place this weekend as the two female fighters square off inside the Octagon in UFC 190 at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
Everyone knows that despite being a favorite, Rousey is not taking her fight with Correia lightly. In fact, it has become personal all thanks to a tactless tweet that Correia made. That, of course, is with reference to that ‘suicide’ tweet which hit a mark, something that ticked off Rousey who lost her father to suicide when she was still a young girl.
Though Correia claims she was unaware of that episode in Rousey’s life, her apology is technically unaccepted. For that, Rousey plans to inflict as much pain as possible when they finally meet face-to-face.
We have seen those Instagram tweets from the champion, giving the fans and Correia an idea of how serious Rousey is heading into the match.
Such has been all the more appended with a new Budweiser commercial which stars the UFC champion.
Though it doesn’t really highlight much about Rousey drinking Budweiser as part of her training regimen, the commercial shows off how Rousey is preparing with some messages that should be something aspiring athletes may want to digest when it comes to competition and preparation.
Among the excerpts that Rousey mentioned in the commercial include:
- “You have to have fear in order to have courage”
- “You’re not just training to be the best in the world”
- “You train to be the best in the world on your worst day”
- “Nobody is easy until you defeat them”
- “I work hard to make the fight easy”
- “I’m scared about failure all the time but I’m not scare enough to stop trying”
- “Never forget where you came from”
Apparently, the message is clear that Rousey intends to inspire and of course serve by example. Those practices will be put to the ultimate test when she faces Correia this Saturday.
Never mind that she is an overwhelming favorite over the PitBull. The thing is that despite the odds, Rousey is treating Correia in the same way with any other opponent that would get into the ring against her.
Despite her multiple commitments in Hollywood, Rousey has made sure that her rise to fame has not affected the practice that brought her there. As she said towards end of the commercial: “Never forget where you came from”.
Rousey shows off the results of her hard work and training this Saturday against Bethe "PitBull" Correia (Aug 1, 2015) at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at UFC 190 starting at 10 pm ET and 7 pm PT.
Below is the video of that commercial.
