Chris Leben has long been out of the UFC scene but it seems that his turbulent past still continues.

Leben has been no stranger when it comes to run-ins with the law and it seems that things haven’t changed despite being out of the UFC circle.

The former TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) and UFC middleweight contender was reportedly arrested last Wednesday in San Diego on multiple charges as reported by Jeremy Botter of Bleacher Report via social medium Twitter.

Among the charges that Leben is facing include that of vandalism, possession of an assault weapon, multiple counts of trespassing and a misdemeanour violations. Bail has been set at $100,000 for Leben who was processed at the San Diego Central Jail.

Leben has had a history of arrests dating back to 2008. That year, the former UFC star was arrested on DUI charges which resulted in him being sent to prison. He would repeat that DUI charge once again in 2010 when he was apprehended in Hawaii.

Aside from the DUI episodes, Leben also dealt with drug issues. This includes testing positive for steroid stanozolol in 2009 during a post-fight and again in 2011 when he failed another drug test that involved painkillers (oxycodone and oxymorphone).

As far as Leben’s carrer is concerned, he was an active figure in the UFC scene for about twelve years, amassing a 12-10 record.

It wasn’t until Leben suffered a four-match losing streak that the MMA fan-favorite started to assess his next move which was unfortunately retirement.

After his loss to Urian Hall on December 28, 2013 at UFC 168, Leben officially called it quits when he announced his retirement on January 20, 2014.

At the time, Leben admitted that with a wide range of new middleweight talent and his unfortunate string of losses, the man known as ‘the Crippler’ admitted that it may be time for him to quit while he is ahead.

Though Leben battled injuries, he never had any serious ones that required him to go under the knife. Apparently, Leben is thankful that in his 22-fight as a middleweight, nothing of such came his way.

Since his retirement, Leben has focused on coaching at the Victory MMA & Fitness in San Diego.

However, it now looks like Leben has to conquer a different battle outside the Octagon - multiple offenses that would require him to pay a hefty sum to get over the current legal battle he has to deal with.
