Spoiler Alert. "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 is just around the corner, and rumor has it that there are going to be some major changes.
Caterina Scorsone recently spilled the beans about some "lighter" changes that her character will be going through during the upcoming season.
Scorsone plays the role of Amelia Shepherd, Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) younger sister. Following the tragic car accident that caused Derek's death last season, fans grieved along with Scorsone's character, who was anything but happy.
However, during an interview with Design & Trend, Scorsone promised that "there is a lot more laughter and joy" in Season 12.
"This year on 'Grey's,' so many tragic things happened that we only got a very small glimpse at that side of her personality because it was mostly kind of mired in all of the tragedy," she continued.
When it comes to relationships, Scorsone admitted that she does not know what the future holds for Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Amelia, who are not officially together. Since things are lingering between the two, it may or may not be easy to revive that romance.
On the other hand, Amelia and Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) may rekindle their friendship, since they, without a doubt, are the two characters that were most affected by Derek's death.
"I think they really came to a deeper place with one another at the end of the season," said Scorsone.
Showrunner Shonda Rhimes is known for her sudden changes and edgy turns of the script that always shock the viewers. For instance, the last season's sudden death of Dr. Shepherd was unexpected and made a deep impact on the viewers.
In addition, according to Entertainment Weekly, the forthcoming season will be dealing with the April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) storyline.
Previously, the young couple suffered the death of their newborn infant right after his birth. Drew hinted that her son's death has made her make some important decisions in her life, perhaps a separation from her husband.
It is also speculated that things may go bad between Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington), whose crisis may climax with Alex's ex-wife Dr. Izzie Stevens' (Katherine Heigel) comeback to the ABC series.
The best for last is the speculation that Rhimes is planning to kill Meredith, stemming from the fact that Pompeo's contract ends after Season 12.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 premiers on Sept. 24 on ABC.
