There are rumors that a dead character will return to “Supernatural” season 11. Fans are hoping that John Winchester would appear on the TV series again.
TV Line reported that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Sam and Dean’s late father, John Winchester, that he really wants to make an appearance again.
“I would absolutely love to come back. There’s no official talk that I know of, but I’m always in contact with Jared [Padalecki] and Jensen [Ackles] – they’re very good friends of mine,” Morgan told TV Line.
Morgan added that with him, the issue was always about scheduling. He recently signed for a whole season on “The Good Wife” but said that hopefully, they can find some time and have the writers include him for a part. Morgan said that he would be very happy to act with the rest of the cast again.
Morgan also has one minor request from The CW. He wants Ackles to lead his comeback episode.
“I would love to have Jensen direct me, honestly. I think that would be a very cool deal. That’s always what I’ve been pushing for.”
Screen Rant wrote that John Winchester was the man who taught Sam and Dean how to hunt for monsters. He last appeared in season 2. He died in the first episode then made a posthumous appearance to bid his sons farewell in the season finale. In some episodes which involved time travel, a younger version of Winchester was featured, although Morgan has not been in the script for a long time.
Season 11 might be the best time for Winchester to return. Executive producer Andrew Dabb shared that Sam and Dean will look back at some aspects in their past that have not been dealt with in a long time. He said that these past issues will lead to a number interesting consequences for the brothers.
Dabb added that Morgan will certainly return and that the only concern is timing.
“To me, it’s not if he comes back, it’s when. When’s the right time? When it’s going to be for maximum impact? What you don’t want to do is bring a character like that back and waste the opportunity,” Dabb said.
Also, there is the question of when “Supernatural” will continue to run. Screen Rant cited that it might make a lot of sense to have Morgan reappear in the final episode before the story concludes for good.
