In a recently deleted post on his Twitter account, one of the original Ghostbusters, Dan Aykroyd, stated that he was on the set of the new "Ghostbusters" reboot.
Screenrant reports that Aykroyd, who also co-wrote the first two movies, tweeted that he was on the set of the "Ghostbusters" film and he was shooting his scene with Kristen Wiig. Aykroyd also went on to say that the new Ghostbusters are funny, adorable and not to mention badass!
The new reboot will not be your parent's Ghostbusters however, it has been confirmed that most of the roles of the movies will be reversed. Instead of an all male group of Ghostbusters, the team will be all female. Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy will be playing roles similar to that of Aykroyd and Bill Murray played in the original movies, according to IGN. While Chris Hemsworth, popularly known as Thor, will be playing the receptionist for the Ghostbusters.
Aykroyd will not be returning to his role as Ray Stanz as his role in the movie is probably going similar as to what Stan Lee does in all the Marvel movies. Aykroyd will probably be a normal person like a cab driver or security guard and will say one of the catch phrases from the original movies like "who you gonna call?" or "I aint afraid of no ghost!"
News about how the story is going to unveil however, has been kept under tight security and while there has been several photos leaked onto the internet showing all four ladies behind the Ecto1 car, movie-goers will just have to wait and see the movie to see the story unfold.
Aykroyd has been on the film's biggest supporters and has gone on record saying that he wishes that he would have been able to finish a trilogy of films with the original Ghostbusters. Unfortunately that is no longer possible with the passing of Harold Ramis, who played Dr. Egon Spengler, last year. There had been many talks about getting the original cast back together before Ramis' death, however talks never got off the ground and the third movie never got made.
Director Paul Feig feels that the new reboot of the Ghostbusters will put renewed interest into another franchise similar to what "Jurassic World" did to the "Jurassic Park" franchise. Sony Pictures is also placing faith into the movie as the projected budget for the reboot is somewhere around $150 million.
"Ghostbusters" is currently filming in the Boston area and the scheduled release date is July 22,2016.
