It seems that World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler Stardust and the star of the hit show "Arrow" Stephen Amell are on a collision course to face each other at WWE's annual summer pay per view, Summer Slam.
In a recent appearance on WWE's flagship show, "Monday Night Raw," Stardust, also known as Cody Rhodes, had his comeback match against fellow WWE wrestler Neville. Rhodes was on leave after losing his father, WWE Hall of Fame member Dusty Rhodes. Comic Book reports that Amell was in the crowd that evening and the two had words on camera.
Hollywood Life, however, is reporting that the match may not come to be as Amell's contract with the CW, the channel "Arrow" shows on, may not allow the actor to wrestle for the WWE. The network quotes that it is not certain if Amell can refrain from getting injured during any match Amell would be in and any injury could delay the taping of "Arrow." Stephen also has clauses in his contracts that prevent him from getting into any situation that might cause him injury.
While the contract is being ironed out, the two rivals are having quite the war on social media with Amell saying that Stardust wouldn't want to have a piece of him if ever the actor decided to step in to the WWE ring. Stardust on the other hand has gone on to more of a mind games approach, stating that he knows Stephen's biggest secret.
If Amell does decide to wrestle at the pay per view event, he wouldn't be the first celebrity to step into the squared circle. Actually the WWE has thrived the most when celebrities are involved with their matches. The first two Wrestelmanias where actually filled with many celebrities who wrestled or had some kind of involvement in the stories surrounding the matches. Celebrities such as Mr. T, Cyndi Lauper, Mike Tyson, and even Floyd Mayweather have seen the inside of a WWE ring. Owner of the WWE, Vince McMahon, believes that celebrities, if used correctly and kept safe, are always welcomed to join the WWE Universe.
It is still not known if Amell can actually even wrestle very well. Celebrity fights have not always been known to be the best to watch and even though the stories are fake, and matches pre-scripted who will win and lose, the actual fighting can be dangerous. Wrestlers have been known to get really injured and even killed during matches.
WWE will present Summerslam on Aug 23, 2015 from the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York.
