New Literary Character Coming to 'Penny Dreadful' Season 3? Spoilers, Release Date, Cast, Plot & Rumors Here

The hit Showtime TV series, "Penny Dreadful," has been renewed for a third season and promises to be the most epic and suspenseful yet. Fans of the show are clamouring for details of any new literary characters who can be added to the fictional star studded cast.

With rumors swirling all over the Internet, VC Post reports that the next possible character to be added to the cast may be either Dr Jekyll, or his notorious counterpart Mr Hyde. In an interview, executive producer and head writer of the show, John Logan, has teased at another batch of new characters to be added to the show. According to Logan, it has been fun using characters created by famous writers and bringing these legendary characters into the show. Logan states that it is time for the show to finally bring in someone new into the cast.

According to Vine Report, Logan also hints that there may be a chance for Vanessa and Ethan to possibly have some kind of romance bloom between two. When asked about the subject, Logan claims that viewers shouldn't give up hope. He states that both characters have been in the shadows for much of their lives, to finally have either character finally find some sort of light in each other's feelings is exciting. Currently, Vanessa is played by Eva Green, famous for her roles in movies such as "300: Rise of an Empire," while Ethan is played by Josh Hartnett, who has had roles in movies such as "Pearl Harbor."

"Penny Dreadful" currently uses several characters from British literature from where the show gets its name from. Characters such as Dorian Gray, Dr. Frankenstein and his Monster, and the werewolf Talbot have all made the main cast of the show.

The TV series was originally casted to be a mini-series. However, the popularity of the show (season 1 averaged around 900,000 viewers per episode) allowed Showtime to call for more seasons. Both Seasons 1 and 2 have been nominate for several awards including a Best Actress nomination for Green in the 5th Critic's Choice Television Awards.

Currently, there has no word on when Season 3 of "Penny Dreadful" will premiere. However, the tendency of cable channels is to release their new seasons sometime in late spring. So fans of the show will likely have to wait till around late April to May of 2016 for the next season.
