Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has reportedly started training as he prepares for his alleged last fight this coming September 12, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The only problem is against who?

The answer to that lies in the hands of one person alone – Floyd Mayweather Jr. Though the undefeated American did mention two not-so popular names in Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield, the boxing world is still not buying it.

The belief is that Mayweather will be facing a more suited opponent and Amir Khan is leading that list. But as far as the British southpaw is concerned, he hasn’t gotten any word yet from Floyd or anyone in his camp though he is still hoping to gain the nod.

“He likes to make his opponents wait and maybe he’s making me wait, distracting me a little bit, making sure that I’m not going to be focused on what my job is,” Khan told Boxing News.

Mayweather plans to end his career on a high note with another win which would allow him to tie the 49-0 record of boxing great Rocky Marciano. And to do that, Mayweather did mention last month that he wanted to be his last opponent to be “Solid”.

Apparently those words are what many boxing pundits are holding on Mayweather since his two mentioned opponents, Berto and ,Mayfield don’t exactly look like fighter that can be easily categorized along that niche.

As far as Khan is concerned, he believes that Mayweather is playing mind games on him or whoever he plans to face on September 12 and training ahead may part of the psyche job.

To recall, Mayweather is coming off a unanimous decision win over Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao last May 2, 2015.

A Mayweather-Pacquiao II would have been considered though that is impossible right now with the Filipino boxer/lawmaker on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder. However, a rematch in 2016 is not totally out of the picture, though such an event leaves the boxing world divided on whether to stage one or not.

As far as his next fight is concerned, Mayweather may want to heed the advice of his father – Floyd Sr. If Floyd Jr. does indeed choose to take it easy for his next fight, he may as well consider retirement.

"Floyd told me he just wants to get a couple of easy fights," Mayweather Sr. told MLive.com. "My honest opinion, if he feels that way, he should get on out of the game.”

If such is the case, then Floyd Jr. may indeed be serious in fighting Berto or Mayfield, a thought that doesn’t really seem like ending your career on a high note.

Whoever Mayweather Jr. chooses, the name should be revealed in the coming weeks. As we enter the middle of July, it leaves the unnamed opponent barely two months to prepare, an advantage that Mayweather Jr. will surely take advantage of.
