The release of the highly anticipated "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" is quickly approaching. And with the December 18, 2015 release date almost upon movie goers more of the movies cast have revealed at the recently concluded San Diego Comic Con 2015.
One of the biggest reveals of the movie panel was the return of Admiral Ackbar, a leader of the rebellion, according to Business Insider. For those who are not familiar with this character, he was one of the squid-looking commanders of the rebellion fleet during "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi." While the character is relatively minor and did not receive a lot of screen time, it garnered a cult following over the years for his famous "IT'S A TRAP!" catchphrase.
On the side of the Empire, a new villain has been released as well. This villain is named General Hux, and will be played by Domhnall Gleeson. Fans of the Harry Potter series will be familiar with Gleeson as he played Bill Weasley in the last two Harry Potter films. Irish Examiner reports that General Hux will be in charge of the Starkiller base and will be one of the pivotal antagonists in the movie.
The director of the movie, J.J. Abrams, also revealed several other teasers and insights into the story line of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens." The story will take place several years after the attack on the Death Star and the battle on the Planet Endor. However, the Empire did not fall on that day and the rebellion is still fighting for their lives and freedom from the grips of the evil empire.
Our heroes have basically been thrown into the winds and have fallen out of communication. While Leia and Han Solo have been heroes of the rebellion, no one has seen the last jedi, Luke Skywalker, for many years. It has been reported that Luke has actually gone into a self-imposed exile in fear that his powers will overpower him and that he will suffer the same fate of his father, Anakin Skywalker. It is yet unknown if Leia fully realizes her own powers.
Abrams has also highly hinted that this chapter of the Star Wars franchise will not rely heavily on CGI effects as the prequels did and that he will try to go back to the roots of Star Wars.
"Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" is scheduled for a world-wide release on December.
