‘Legend of Korra’ Comic Book Out Soon? Details Here!

With the successful finale to the TV series recently airing, many thought that the panel for "The Legend of Korra" at this year's San Diego Comic Con would be a final farewell to the characters fans have grown to love. However, the exact opposite has happened as co-creators of the series Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino confirmed that a comic book series will continue the story of the Avatar and her friend from where the TV series left off.

Adweek confirmed that both of the co-creators will have hands on input into the comic book series. DiMartino will be on as one the head writers, while Konietzko will be writing and consulting on the artwork. Comics Alliance reports that the series will be published by Dark Horse comics which is one of the biggest comic book publishers after Marvel and DC comics.

So what will fans of the series be expecting from the continuation of the story of Avatar Korra? The co-creators has said that the relationship between Korra and Asami will be delved into further. While the relationship was hinted for over the four seasons of the show, fans should remember that Season 4 of the "Legend of Korra" ended with the pair leaving the real world by going into a spirit portal inside of Republic City. So, what happened to the rest of the characters who have not yet been released by either of the co-creators of the show?

According the co-creators, the comic book will be officially cannon along with the hit TV show and fans will not be disappointed with where they plan on taking the characters. While the show started as a follow up to another hit Nickelodeon TV show, "Avatar: The Last Airbender," "The Legend of Korra" started out quickly and gained many fans. The show was originally intended to be a one season mini-series but due to a large fan base, the show was ordered for three more seasons.

However, during the third and fourth seasons, Nickelodeon decided to take the show off the channel and aired episodes purely on its website. Fans of the show were quick to protest to this move and eventually had the show back onto the channel in time for the series finale.

Currently, there are no plans for making the comic books into a TV series. There has also been no information on when the comic book will be released.
