With the 2015 NBA Free Agency soon coming to a close, all eyes are now perhaps set for next year when a new batch of big names will be placed on the spotlight.

No other name is bigger than Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant. Durant headlines the 2016 NBA Free Agent class and multiple teams are already planning ahead.

Among the teams in play aside from the Oklahoma City Thunder are the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards. If Kevin Durant were asked to choose right now, he would likely remain in OKC.

Hence, the coming season should be an interesting one to the former Most Valuable Player as he returns from a season which saw him play in a handful of games on account of an injury. It will be recalled that Durant played in only 27 games last season on account of a foot injury.

But Durant, who is entering his ninth NBA season, is expected to be back to full health though he may need to undergo some adjustment as the Thunder enter the 2015-16 NBA season with a different perspective.

First up of course is that he will be playing under a new coach in Billy Donovan. After missing the playoffs, the Thunder decided to go a different route with the former Florida Gators coach who takes over from previous head coach Scott Brooks.

It will be interesting to see if Durant can still flourish under the first year coach though it would be foolish to think he wouldn’t.

Moving forward, chances are not that high for the said teams that are in play for Durant considering the Thunder can easily match any offer thrown at the NBA All Star forward. Hence, if Durant does jump ship, it may entirely be up to him despite the fact that the Thunder will have the last say in it all.

Among the mentioned teams that could succeed in wooing Durant out of OKC would be the Washington Wizards. Such could give Durant to move back to his hometown as he could pair up with John Wall and Bradley Beal.

The Lakers could be a tempting destination as well though like LaMarcus Aldridge, Durant may be interested in the basketball path that Mitch Kupchak and company will have to offer.

The Knicks are practically in the same vote though it will be interesting to see how he and Carmelo Anthony can share the ball.

The Mavericks could use the Nowitzki-angle, seeing that the German hotshot could be hanging his sneakers soon. Nowitzki will have a player option for 2016 and chances are he will opt in if he stays healthy. Would Durant be interested in Dallas? Hopefully he doesn’t do a DeAndre Jordan and impulsively commit until he is 100 percent sure of signing up.

Given those scenarios, it shouldn’t be surprising to see another frenzied and wild 2016 NBA Free Agent season.
