Deron Williams and the Brooklyn Nets have finally come to an agreement, a buyout, which should benefit both parties.
Williams has long been said to be on the trading block as the Nets were looking to rid themselves of the point guard’s hefty contract.
According to NBA.com, the buyout on the remaining two years of Williams was agreed upon where the All Star guard will receive $27.5 million of the total $43 million contract he was supposed to receive for the next two years.
Once Williams clears waivers, the third overall draft pick of the 2005 NBA Draft will be free to negotiate with other teams. And it seems that Williams will most likely have a new team soon with talks that he is set to join the Dallas Mavericks.
This would not be the first time that Williams has gained the interest of the Dallas Mavericks, having been linked to the Mark Cuban-owned squad back in 2012. Williams spurned the offer that year and opted to remain with the Nets.
Williams has seen a huge drop in numbers and apparently his production has made him dispensable over at Brooklyn with owner Mikhail Prokhorov to go a different direction and clean house by dislodging the Nets’ high-salaried players.
Joe Johnson, another name that was originally on the trading block, will reportedly no longer be traded. Apparently the Nets waited to see who would go first and their preferred choice was obviously Williams.
ESPN sources say Nets are now indeed 'intent" on keeping Joe Johnson. Finding a way to move D-Will, sources say, was their "preferred route"

With that development, talks about Joe Johnson possibly heading to the Cleveland Cavaliers may have likely been quashed.
For the Mavericks, the coming of Deron Williams should address their search for a point guard to beef up their backcourt. With Rajon Rondo and Monta Elllis now with other teams, the Mavs are short of guards in the mix with only Raymond Felton, JJ Barrea and Devin Harris left.
The Mavs had their eye on Jeremy Lin, but, unfortunately, the former Harvard University standout opted to sign a two-year pact with the Charlotte Hornets.
The imminent signing of the said deal comes as a consolation of sorts for Mark Cuban and company after the Mavs lost out in the DeAndre Jordan sweepstakes.
Jordan opted to go back to his mother team, the Los Angeles Clippers, before the July 9 signing of contracts, despite initially committing to join the Mavericks during the NBA Free Agency period.
With the Mavericks, Williams will get a chance to get his career back on track. Last season, Williams averaged 13.0 points and 6.6 assists for the Nets.
The former University of Illinois player will be looking to recall his old form, which saw him put up career-bests of 21.3 point per game (Utah Jazz, 2010-11) and 12.8 assists (New Jersey Nets, 2010-11).
Deron’s wife tweeted her appreciation to Mark Cuban last Friday night.
