Skyrim downloadable content for the PS3 may be closer than most gamers think, according to a recent Bethesda twitter post.
The PS3 version of Skyrim has forged a less-than-stellar reputation. Hoards of gamers have encountered game breaking glitches that slow the frame-rate to a halt, meanwhile the developer has stumbled over technical issues releasing downloadable content on the system. If Bethesda's tweet is any indication, the "Dawnguard" and "Hearthfire" DLC packs could make their way to the Playstation Network in the coming weeks.
Dawnguard brings the war between humans and vampires to light, and lets players decide their allegiance. If vampirism is chosen, a "Vampire Lord" form is unlocked, complete with access to supernatural powers. Other additions include a skill tree for Werewolves, mounted combat, and the introduction of the crossbow weapon.
Hearthfire allows gamers to build their own house and customize it to their liking, a novel addition to the franchise.
The upcoming Dragonborn DLC drops on December 4, and implements dragon mounts at long last. The expansion takes place on the island of Solstheim and allows players to explore the following areas: Raven Rock, Telvanni Tower, Miraak temple, and Castle Karstaag. Gaming Illustrated reports that "various new weapon and armor types include Bonemold, Chitin, Nordic, and Stalhrim." Dragonborn will cost 1600 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360.
Bethesda has not specified which exact piece of content would land on PS3 as of yet. Both Hearthfire and Dawnguard are currently available on PC.
