“Vampire Diaries” Season 7 is set to launch on Oct 8, 2015 sans Elena Gilbert.
Christian Today reported that the new season will focus on budding romances. There are rumors that Damon and Bonnie might be involved romantically, as well as Stefan and Caroline.
The Season 6 finale marked the exit of Elena Gilbert, played by Nina Dobrev, who has been the key element in the love triangle including brothers Damon and Stefan Salvatore.
Executive producer Kevin Williamson said at the ATX Television Festival, This season the triangle of Elena may be off in the ether. But guess what? There is a lot of story to tell. A lot of great, emotional, tear jerking, epic, scary and thrilling story to tell … I think.”
Executive producer Julie Plec said that “Vampire Diaries” Season 7 will focus more on Caroline, played by Candice Accola. At the end of the sixth season, Caroline asked why nobody ever picks her. Plec explained that Caroline is a character who tries her best and overcompensates.
Plec said,“What you’ve done in a TV series is you’ve set up a girl, that by the end of her run as a character, she will be the one that gets picked first.”
Fans of “Steroline” may be delighted how these statements can mean that the two characters will have more screen time in the upcoming season. In the previous season, Stefan declared his love for Caroline and said that he would wait for her, even though the latter said that she was not ready to enter a relationship yet, based on a report by International Business Times.
There will also be other interesting aspects in the new season, such as Damon not handling Elena’s departure very well. Ian Somerhaulder, who plays Damon Salvatore, told Entertainment Weekly that the story is going to change in form and that the show will return to its dark and edgy roots, which fans always adored.
Executive producer Caroline Dries told TV Line that they always believed how it was more natural for Caroline to deal with her grief in a deeper way and not try to merely cover it up by getting into a relationship with Stefan. Dries explained that Caroline wanted to tackle the problem with a clearer perspective.
After years of being in the background, Caroline may finally be at the center of the story, with Stefan by her side.
