The election's results are trickling in, and Mitt Romney now holds 40 electoral college votes to Mr. Obama's 64.
Politico has called Indiana, South Carolina, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Kentucky for Romney. Obama has secured Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The popular vote is neck-and-neck, with Romney securing just over 4 million and Obama only 300 votes behind, as of this writing.
Fox News has called Georgia for the GOP challenger as well, adding 16 electoral votes to the Republican's tally, according to the agency.
The crucial swing states of Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania have not yet been decided.
In West Virginia, 163,788 residents voted early, half of which were Democrats. 35.7 percent were Republicans and 13.8 percent were None/Other.
At an Obama campaign office, the president said, "The great thing about these campaigns is, after all the TV ads and all the fundraising and all the debates and all the electioneering, it comes down to this."
Romney touted that he's "only written one speech at this point," displaying his confidence in a victory.
On a campaign tour, Vice President Biden reiterated the importance of the swing state Ohio, stating: "If we win Ohio, we will win the presidency," said Biden in the third day of his tour across the swing state."
