In the wake of the official release of its PC version, "Batman: Arkham Knight" now has a mod version that allows players to use characters previously unavailable.
PC players now have the option to play Red Hood, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Robin, Azrael, Bruce Wayne, Catwoman, Comissioner Gordon, GCPD Officer Ownes, and the Joker according to Yahoo News. Players may have to wait to play the new mod however, because the popular game has officially been removed from Steam because of various issues that was causing the game to crash.
Gamespot reports that Rocksteady is leading the team of developers and game designers to fix all the problems that the game reportedly has. Game publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has also done other measures to get "Batman: Arkham Knight" free of any performance issues. However, Rocksteady confirmed that the game was in fact a port which was handled by a third party developer Iron Galaxy. Iron Galaxy is well known for the recent "Killer Instinct" remake on the XBOX one. Iron Galaxy also handled the PC version of "Batman: Arkham Origins" a game that was released to numerous bugs and performance issues.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released a report claiming that the removal of the game from Steam was to fix reported bugs that users were experiencing. When the game first came out last week a large number of players were experiencing video problems such as stuttering, variable frame rates, and eventually crashes.
The problems were so bad that even those with high-end graphics cards like the GTX Titan X and GTX 980 T were unable to run the game at a steady 60fps. Some AMD users are reporting frame rates in the single digits. Graphics card giant NVIDIA has been called in to give QA and technical assistance on the matter.
"Batman: Arkham Knight" was given a game patch to help with the problems the game has been having. So far players have reported that the game's rain effects and other issues have been fixed. No reports of the new mod effecting the game negatively. With regards on completely fixing all the games bugs Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released this statement: "The work is significant and while we are making good progress on improving performance, it will take some time to ensure that we get the right fixes in place."
