The long-awaited match between Miguel Cotto and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez seems to be progressing and from the looks of it, the fight will happen in November.

The original plan was for the Alvarez-Cotto fight to take place on Sep. 12. However, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. had already booked the said date and thus forced the said mega bout to be pushed to November.

This will mark the third time that both camps will be sitting down to negotiate for the fight. Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) and Cotto (40-4, 33 KO) would have faced off in May had negotiations not bogged down.

Apparently, Cotto was holding out on Alvarez since there would have been a possibility of him facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. at that time. And as everyone knows Mayweather fought Pacquiao while Cotto ended up fighting Daniel Geale who he knocked out in the fourth round.

Alvarez on the other hand faced James Kirkland last May 9 and won via third round knockout.

One man who is looking forward to the fight is Cotto’s trainer Freddie Roach. Despite that explosiveness of Alvarez, he is still confident that Cotto has an advantage over the Mexican boxer.

How confident? Roach believes that Cotto will win via knockout.

"I really like that fight," said Roach. "That's the fight I've always wanted for Miguel. I think it's a very good fight for us. I really like our chances in that fight and I think there's a good chance we knock this guy out."

Though the fight has not yet been made official, the Hall of Fame trainer strongly believes that the fight is imminent.

"The fight is already going to happen in November," Roach said. "The fight is not yet signed. I understand that some details are missing, but the fact is that it will be in November."

It seems that the details that Roach mentioned had to do on where the fight would take place.

Alvarez seems to prefer the bout to take place in Texas while Cotto wants it to be held at either New York or Las Vegas.

Despite all these, Cotto’s adviser, Gabby Penagaricano, believes that negotiations are going well.

"Things are looking good, positive so far. But I could not say that there is agreement yet. At the present, everyone is very positive" says Penagaricano.

Alvarez seems to be confident as well that the fight will take place, as the Mexican boxer has already started working out in anticipation of the November joust.

The fight is something that Oscar Dela Hoya believes will be better than the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight last May, not to mention affordable to watch.

With everything seemingly in order, the only thing that remains is to make the match official.
