In a stunning announcement, Bristol Palin announces that her second child is on the way. Bristol already has one child, Tripp, 6, from her previous relationship with Levi Johnston. Tripp was born on December 2008, and Palin and Johnston broke up a few months later.
Us Magazine reports that the announcement came sooner than expected. Palin explains this is due to "trolls who have nothing better to talk about." Bristol was engaged to Marine Dakota Meyer last May but the wedding plans were canceled a week before the scheduled Memorial Day weekend ceremony. No explanation was given for the cancellation.
According to E Online, Bristol wrote a blog post about the wedding saying, "I guess you have seen by now that the wedding-that was supposed to happen last weekend-was called off. I'm sure you've seen this has been all over the media, but this is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers. I know God's plan is greater than anything else, and Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much different circumstances than we anticipated."
Palin, who is now 24, recently competed on the hit TV show "Dancing with the Stars" and although she did not win, it did thrust her back into national attention. Palin first drew national attention when she declared she was pregnant on the opening day of the Republican National Convention in 2008. This was just one day after her mother, former Alaska senator, Sarah Palin was announced as the running mate of John McCain. Soon after Bristol became a staunch advocate of teen pregnancy nationwide.
This time around, Bristol is trying to stay strong. "Honestly I'm trying to keep my chin up on this one," she writes in her blog. Palin goes on by saying, "At the end of the day there's nothing I can't do with God by my side, and I know I am fully capable of handling anything that is put in front of me with dignity and grace."
Currently, no announcement has been made on who is the father of the second child. Palin has acknowledged that this news does disappoint her friends and family who depend on her for strength. Bristol asks for privacy for her and for the children, and that she does not want any lectures nor any sympathy from anyone.
