Was the recent bout between Kevin ‘Kimbo Slice’ Fergusson and Ken Shamrock rigged?

Such seems to be the consensus these days on the main match offered at Bellator 138.

To recall this match was as billed “Unfinished Business”. The fight was something originally pegged to take place back in 2008. That match did not materialize when Shamrock suffered an injury stemming from an accidental cut in the locker room.

Seven years after, the fight took place with both men older which made the match look like a battle of senior citizens. Make no mistake about it, Shamrock showed he still had the wits to go up against a bigger Slice while the latter likewise showed he still had it what it takes to rebound and deal a final knockout blow.

For those who missed it, Slice knocked out Shamrock after warding off an aggressive attack.

At the way things went, a lot of critics are now calling the fight a hoax, a fixed match. Would you agree?

Working on the angle that both fighters hated each other was one that made the match a pretty interesting tiff to check out. But at their budding ages, should the fight have taken place at all?

At their ages, something had to give. Shamrock admitted that he lost the speed and timing that he once had, something that lead to his miscalculation and costly mistake of allowing Slice to recover his thoughts and get back on his feet.

Meanwhile, Slice simply needed one punch, a KO blow to finish off the renowned World’s Most Dangerous Man. At the age of 41, Slice still has the power to deliver a knockout blow – something apparently aided by the fact of his large figure.

Critics believe that it was all about money and they may have a case. With the high profile that Shamrock and Slice carried, it was pretty obvious that big money was involved to get these two in the ring.

The match didn’t take long and such was not really surprising. At their age, it would have been dumbfounding to see both fighters going beyond one round. The fight ended at the 2:22 mark when Slice landed a punch to Shamrock, Slice’s third KO win of his career.

That and the way the two fighters fought and ended drew a lot of criticism. But could one really expect more from what they saw considering the ages of both fighters?

Seeing that it was the headliner seems to have drawn out critics. Perhaps if the fight was not the headliner then the Slice vs. Shamrock showdown would not be drawing such remarks.
