Floyd Mayweather Jr. has yet to name who he will face in September - the month of his supposed last fight in his storied boxing career.

Everyone knows that Amir Khan is being mentioned but unless Mayweather says so, that is not a done deal. While the guessing game continues, one thing remains certain – it won’t be Shawn Porter.

Porter won via unanimous decision over Adrian Broner last Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas and is now sending feelers that he wants to fight Mayweather in the Fall. Unfortunately Floyd doesn’t believe that Porter deserves to be in the ring with him and should face someone else.

Mayweather suggested that Porter face Errol Spence Jr., in an undercard bout for the coming September 12 pay-per-view bout.

However, Porter was quick to say that the supposed match was of no interest to him and that he wanted to get his hands on the Flamboyant One.

“I’m not looking for any more Mayweather undercards,” Porter said via the Las Vegas Sun. “We were looking to get on the Mayweather-Pacquiao undercard. That didn’t happen. Now I’m not looking at watching him fight after I fight. I’m looking at fighting him.”

Porter seems to be following a similar route that another boxer did to get in the ring with Mayweather.

The boxer in mention is Marcos Maidana who fought Mayweather twice in 2014. Maidana was able to book a fight with the undefeated Mayweather when he handed Broner the first loss of his boxing career.

And after the results of last Saturday’s fight, Porter believes he deserves a shot at Mayweather as well though Floyd was hardly impressed by the win.

“He was straight ahead, up and down,” Mayweather said of Shawn Porter. “Whereas you’ve got guys like me who fight smart and take your best attribute away to make you resort to something you don’t like to do.”

Apparently, Floyd was referring to the 12th round of the match where Adrian Broner landed a left hook which sent Porter to the canvass.

Mayweather believes that Porter placed himself in that uncompromising situation; indirectly stating that Porter may not be ready for the undefeated Mayweather.

Regardless, Porter finds no shame with the knockdown. In fact he charges it to experience believing that it gave him the perfect opportunity to see what he should do in such a situation.

For Mayweather, it remains to be seen who will be his opponent for the scheduled September 12 bout. Mayweather claims that his next opponent could be either Andre Berto or Karim Mayfield, two fighters who have more defeat than wins.

With the mentioned names hardly ringing a bell, Mayweather could probably be throwing the people off. There is no official word on who Mayweather’s opponent would be in the Fall though it is widely believe that it could very well be British Boxer Amir Khan.
