After 40 years, the Golden State Warriors are once again NBA champions following their victory over the stubborn Cleveland Cavaliers, 105-97, to clinch series (4-2) and the 2014-15 NBA Title at the Quickens Loan Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Despite playing in enemy soil, the Warriors were determined to finish of the Cavaliers. And they did just that.

Led once more by reigning MVP Stephen Curry who finished the game with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists, the Warriors were able to douse water on any kind of Cavalier uprising.

J.R. Smith refused to give up, hitting three-pointers to give the Cavs some kind of chance heading into the final minutes of game 6.

Despite his efforts, it was simply not enough as the Warriors were able to answer each uprising with hits from Curry, Andre Iguodala and Klay Thompson.

However, the player who proved to be a difference for the Warriors was Draymond Green. Green finished with a triple-double, 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists as he provided the needed backup that Curry and Iguodala needed to fend off any threat from the Cavs.

The closest the Cavs were able to get was 4 points (101-97) with about 32 seconds remaining in the contest. But the Warriors were able to weather that via the free throw line en route to the title-clinching win.

Lebron James came up with another monster performance, finishing with a double-double 32 points, 18 rebounds while Timofey Mozgov likewise had a good showing with 17 points and 12 markers.

Unfortunately, the effort was simply not enough as the Warriors got key contributions from other players like Festus Ezeli and Shaun Livingston. Both had 10 markers apiece.

Andre Iguodala was later on adjudged the Finals MVP. There was no doubt that the NBA veteran played a pivotal role in the finals after spending most of the season coming off the bench.

In the title-clinching game six, Iguodala ended up with 25 points for the night which included a couple of key three pointers in the fourth quarter which allowed the Warriors to distance themselves from the Cavs.

"This was awesome," Iguodala said following his team’s victory. "We talked about staying strong, stay with it. That was Coach's motto the whole playoffs. Stay with it. They kept fighting. This is unreal"

For the Warriors, the title was the first one after 40 years. The Warriors last won the NBA trophy in 1975 which starred Phil Smith, Rick Barry and Jamaal Wilkes pulling off an upset over the heavily favoured Washington Bullets.
