New York Governor Cuomo predicts that state-wide gas shortages will persist for several more days, and asserts that "Now is not the time to be using the car if you don't need to. Now is not the time to be hoarding fuel."
The New York Daily News reports that 28 million gallons of fuel are on their way to NY gas stations and 8 million have already been delivered.
New Jersey, also afflicted by a dearth of gas, has re-instituted a gas rationing system that provides fuel to cars with license plates that end in an even number on even numbered days, and licenses that end in odd numbers on odd numbered days.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie states, "This system will ease the strain on those gas stations still operating while we work to bring more online for the public to access fuel, in a manner that is fair, easy to understand, and less stressful."
Cuomo assured the public not to panic, nothing that he knows "there is anxiety about fuel...the situation has been remedied. Gas stations will be getting fuel."
He adds that "help is on the way," but that drivers should expect shortages for "a number of days."
"That does not mean there will be a total alleviation of the problem in the immediate future. But it is getting better."
The Department of Defense is also hard at work distributing free gas in the metro New York area with a 10-gallon cap, according to the NY Daily News.
"We're not 100% sure when the system will be up and running where you won't feel any effect whatsoever." said the NY Governor.
