Ever since news got out about the Disney merger with Lucas Film and their intended revival of the Star Wars franchise, rumors have been rampant on the internet.
Thus far, the rumors have been pure speculation, but a new one seems be picking up some steam after Blog Marketsaw claimed to have a mole feeding them "exclusive" information. Among information provided is not only news on the story and possible title, but also the possible directors.
The source claims that Episode 7 will be called "A New Dawn" and also claims that the Empire is not completely destroyed after Episode 6: Return of the Jedi. "Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, C3PO and R2D2 are I am assured to feature prominently in the new trilogy, as was always the idea. Apparently some have already been approached. Quite a while back too to my understanding. Hamill is a certainty," says the source. Mark Hamill played Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy.
The source also adds that there are two trilogies planned, meaning that Episodes 10 -12 will also be produced. The protagonists will be a female Skywalker and the children of the original trilogy characters. The site also claims that the trilogy will be presented like the Harry Potter series in consistently released installments. For fans hoping for the releases of the original trilogy, Marketsaw's source also suggests that Disney is hard at work at making that happen.
As for directors the source lists the following helmers as possibilities: Steven Speilberg, Neil Blomkamp, Alfonso Cuarón, Matthew Vaughn, Darren Arnofsky, and Joss Whedon.
The email also relates the TV series which will be made up of "45 minute long feature films."
Marketsaw also claims that the new trilogy will be in 3D.
