Google has yet to make an official announcement about the Nexus 5 (2015), but there have been many speculations on the features and capabilities of the upcoming smartphone.
BGR recently reported that Google has shared a lot of information about the new Android M or Marshmallow at the I/O 2015 event. Google is believed to be planning the launch of the final version of the OS in the third quarter of 2015, which can also mean that the Google Nexus 5 (2015) will feature the Android M out of the box.
Android M provides users with more control over the app permissions and the type of data that they share with developers. One of the major changes include that of Android apps requesting permission from the user first before using specific features within the app, instead of asking before the app is installed. Google also featured Android Pay at the I/O 2015, which endeavors to make mobile payments more convenient for everyone. There will also be native support for fingerprint scanners, which will work together with Android Pay to provide further security when making payments. It will reportedly be the first time that fingerprint sensors will become integrated with an Android platform. Google will also enhance its battery life through a feature known as "Doze" for its future smartphones and also offer support for USB Type-C ports to allow fast charging.
Reddit user infosql found what could possibly be the Nexus 5 (2015) in a video on the Google Developers YouTube channel. The smartphone can be spotted in the "Fingerprint and Payment APIs" part of the video that features the fingerprint scanner support and Android Pay of the Android M.
Android Police stated that there may be two models of the Nexus 5 (2015) that will be launched. The first version will reportedly be developed by LG and called "Bullhead". The second will allegedly be developed by Huawei and be known as "Angler." The LG Bullhead will feature a 5.2-inch display and a 2,700 mAh battery. The device will most likely run on the Snapdragon 808 processor. The Huawei Angler will be bigger with its 5.7-inch screen and run on the Snapdragon 810 processor. The Angler might feature a 3,500 mAh battery.
The Google Nexus 5 (2015) will purportedly present a design which is quite similar to its predecessor, based on the image shown in the Google Developer's video. It will most likely release in October or November 2015 after the Google Nexus 6 is done with its one-year cycle.
