In Assassin's Creed III, micro-transactions take the form of "Erudito Credits," reports the Official Xbox Magazine (OXM).
WorthPlaying captured a photo of the product on the Xbox Live Marketplace, which can be found here. The site notes that 20 Erudito Packs are worth 80 Microsoft Points (MSP), 50 Packs cost 160 MSP, 155 Packs cost 400 MSP, 380 Packs cost 800 MSP, and 925 Packs cost 1600 MSP. The listing for the 925 Erudito Pack states: "Buying this pack will grant you 925 Erudito Credits in-game, allowing you to acquire some game items, disregarding your current level." OXM compares the micro-transaction system to Mass Effect 3, where "players can dispense [cash] on booster packs containing special weapons, gear and ammo."
Ubisoft has not commented on the reveal of this previously unannounced feature. Assassin's Creed is on the cusp of release, launching tomorrow on October 30. The Wii U version of the game will release when the Wii U lands on store shelves on November 18.
Assassin's Creed III is set during the era of the American Revolution, spanning both pre-war and post-war time periods. The franchise will conclude Desmond's story and introduce a new protagonist, the half-European and half-Native American Assassin Connor Kenway.
The game's developers started fresh with a new engine called Anvil Next, which introduces all-new situational animations, increases the amount of non-playable characters (NPC's) that can inhabit the game space, and allows players to fluidly navigate the uneven surfaces and tree branches of the American frontier.
