'Gossip Girl' actor Chace Crawford is the latest actor to be added to the list of Christian Grey hopefuls in the film adaptation of E.L. James' bestselling erotic thriller '50 Shades of Grey.' Examiner recently named the 27-year-old actor as the perfect fit for the coveted role.
"Chace Crawford looked as gorgeous and polished as ever on the red carpet for the Maison Martin Margiela with H&M Global Launch Event on October 23," Examiner wrote on Wednesday. "The 'Gossip Girl' star impressed in a dark suit and open collared white shirt."
Crawford currently stars in the hit CW show 'Gossip Girl' as Nate Archibald, a wealthy Upper East Sider, which give him some background in the '50 Shades' role.
According to Examiner, "He portrays a very wealthy and confident character on the show, which is very similar to Christian Grey. Chace also has some attributes that make him just right for the role, including piercing blue eyes, a 6 foot stature and already toned physique. The star also happens to be 27, the same age as the mercurial billionaire Christian Grey."
Crawford joins a long list of actors for the highly coveted role in the popular series. 'White Collar' actor Matt Bomer and 'Vampire Diaries' actor Ian Somerhalder top fans' top picks along with fellow actors Alexander Skarsgard, Henry Cavill and Jared Padalecki. In the latest poll by Latinos Post, Bomer has taken the lead with 65 percent of the votes. He is followed by Somerhalder, who lead the previous poll by Latinos Post, with 23 percent of the votes.
The casting for the role of Anastasia Steele, the 21-year-old college student who plays opposite of Christian Grey, has also had its share of rumors. The list of actresses vying for the doe-eyed role include Alexis Bledel, Nina Dobrev, Alexandra Daddario, Emma Watson, Mila Kunis, Lucy Hale and others.
The latest Latinos Post poll found that 'Gilmore Girls' star Alexis Bledel continues to dominate as fan favorite with 46 percent of the votes. She is followed by Daddario, with 20 percent of the votes, and Dobrev, with 11 percent of the votes.
British author E.L. James has been reported as saying that casting decisions may take some time. The film, which is in its pre-production phase, counts on 'Terra Nova' creator Kelly Marcel as its screenwriter and on Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti as its producers.
Universal Pictures and Focus Films purchased the rights to the film earlier this year, when the series became an international bestseller. A release date for the first film in the series has yet to be announced.
