Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid seem to finally be over their dreadful start, but it has done little to alleviate their greatest concern: Barcelona.
Despite not losing in their last four La Liga Matches, Real Madrid continues to trail Barca by eight points on the table. But things look even bleaker when they realize that standing side by side with Barca in first place is Atletico Madrid who has been rejuvenated with the presence of Radamel Falcao.
Despite playing better in the last few weeks, this team is still not on par with expectations and the loss Wednesday to Borussia Dortmund in the UCL did little to quell these beliefs. Ronaldo continues to be on fire and has scored in last 7 matches for Real Madrid, but the rest of the offense is not coming through.
Madrid is still without a group of their core defenseman, but the good news is that they face off against a relatively anemic offense from Mallorca. However, Mallorca has been strong at home with 6 goals in 4 games. They have only lost one of those four while winning the other three. This squad has not been dominant in any respects, but they will surely play an aggressive attacking style at home where they are most confident. A quick glimpse at Real Madrid's away record (1 win, 1 draw, 2 losses, 5 goals for, 5 against) and one might question how hard this match might actually prove for Jose Mourinho's crew.
Prediction: It will be tough, but Madrid should win this 2-0.
