Nintendo hopes to jump-start Wii console sales with the upcoming release of two new bundles this holiday season: a $129.99 Just Dance 4 bundle and a $149.99 Skylanders Giants bundle.
While Nintendo's main promotional push is on the Wii U front, the original Wii's waning sales is a source of concern for the Japanese company.
The Just Dance 4 Bundle includes a white Wii console, a copy of Just dance 4, and both Nunchuck and Wii Motion Plus controllers.
The Skylanders Giants bundle presents a more colorful offer and includes a blue Wii console with complimentary Nunchuck and Wii Motion Plus Controllers, a copy of Skylanders Giants, two Skylanders characters, one Giant Skylander character, and one 'Portal of Power' which scans the characters into the game.
Nintendo of America's vice president of Licensing Steve Singer states that "These bundles give consumers some of the hottest new games for this generation's most popular console at an attractive price."
He adds, "Together with our third-party publishing partners, we're delivering maximum value for families who want to get the most out of their home entertainment dollar."
In the past, Nintendo has been criticized for its alienation of third-party support on its consoles, which particularly rung true on the Wii. Due to hardware limitations, multiplatform releases during this generation often skipped over the Wii or found their way to the system in a watered-down state. Nintendo's first-party games remained the primary system sellers on the Wii.
Both bundles are set to release on November 4.
On the horizon, Nintendo looks to recapture third-party support with the Wii U, boasting an impressive lot of cross platform releases for the system's launch in November.
