Britt McHenry Returns to ESPN After 1-Week Suspension

After being suspended for one week, ESPN reporter Britt McHenry returns to work.

New York Post reported that McHenry was suspended beginning Apr. 16, after video footage of her went viral. In the video, McHenry was seen berating a tow company worker in Washington, D.C.

McHenry told the employee in the video, "I'm on television and you're in a f----ng trailer, honey."

Based on a report by E!Online, McHenry forwarded her apology via Twitter. She posted, "In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things."

She further tweeted, "As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake."

She was suspended subsequently after her apology. Several viewers were outraged that she got away with a minor penalty despite her cruel rant against the tow company worker.

Based on an article by The Washington Post, Advanced Towing, the towing company involved in the conflict, stated that the video was not licensed or sold to anyone. The employee, Gina, also did not wish to have McHenry suspended as a result of her comments. Gina reportedly has no ill feelings towards McHenry.

An ESPN representative told E!News that McHenry will be back to her regular responsibilities on ESPN, although the date and event have not been confirmed yet. Sports Illustrated reported that McHenry will be in St. Louis to report about the opening round of the NFL draft on Apr. 30. She will also most likely be present on SportsCenter and other NFL-related programs in the days leading to the NFL draft.

Seth Markman, ESPN Senior Coordinating Producer, said in the same Sports Illustrated report, "She's owned up to it. I think she is just really anxious to get back to work."

Markman added, "We had a conversation where we both talked about that it would take time and it will be hard. She realizes she will have to do her job really well and hopefully win back some of the trust of our viewers. We expect that from her, and I expect that from her.

"She did a great job for us on the NFL last year in some difficult situations and I have seen nothing that doesn't make me think she will rebound from this. But she knows the first couple of assignments out of the box will not be easy."
