As the 2015 NBA Playoffs commences, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can play "NBA 2K15" for a whole weekend for free.
Xbox.com announced that the NBA-based game can be played for free starting Friday, April 24, at 12:00 p.m. PDT / 3:00 p.m. EDT until Monday, April 27, at 12:01 a.m. PDT / 3:01 a.m. EDT. Xbox Live Gold members can play "NBA 2K15" as if they purchased the actual game, using some of the league's best players like LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Gamers can click on the Gold Member area on the home dashboard to download the free weekend version of "NBA 2K15".
Based on the same announcement, there will also be a special discount offered over the weekend on the "NBA 2K15 Bundle". The package will reportedly feature the 15,000 Virtual Currency and a discount of 40 percent from the MSRP. All Virtual Currency for Xbox One will have a 33 percent discount during the period. After the free trial, gamers who decide to purchase the game can continue where they left off and they will retain their earned achievements and Gamerscore, according to Xbox.com. Players can buy the game online via the Xbox Store or any Xbox One game retail shop.
Gamespot also reported that the free weekend event for "NBA 2K15" will follow a Steam-style approach. It is not actually the first free play weekend event that Microsoft has featured for Xbox One. Before, the company allowed members to play "Sunset Overdrive" and "Forza Motorsport 5" for free over a limited period. These kinds of free play weekends are actually common on the PC Steam platform of Valve and are quite rare on console.
Fans of 2K's "NBA Live 15" may also play the game for free on the Xbox One. However, players will require an EA Access membership which will cost $5 per month.
In 2014, IGN had positive reviews for "NBA 2K15". The game was described as gorgeous and running smoothly at 60 frames per second. There are several new additions that made the popular franchise appear more realistic than ever. The basketball gameplay is stronger than before and the AI has been enhanced to provide gamers with the ultimate NBA experience. The visuals are stunning and the controls are tight. Many features have also been improved so gamers who have played earlier versions will greatly appreciate the small changes that make the 2015 version possibly the best release yet.
