Since Israel David Dillard was born, Jill Duggar and Derrick Dillard have never been happier. The couple admitted that having their first child together has brought them closer, as reported in a People magazine article.

Jill confessed, "I love our birth story because it bonded us so well. It brought us through something amazing together."

"It was a journey that we needed to go through."

Israel was born in a C-section in a 70-hour long delivery on April 6. The new mom notably told People that her newborn was "worth every single contraction."

Jill gave birth to her little boy past due date. She and Derick originally planned to have a home birth. However, health and safety concerns allegedly stopped the husband and wife from going through with the original plan. When the 23-year old mom was in labor, she saw Meconium stains in her amniotic fluid. Meconium stains are the first feces of infants. These feces are usually signs signaling that babies are in distress. After Jill saw the risks home birth presented, she quickly went to the hospital to have her baby delivered. Jill was in home labor for 20 hours, according to The Inquisitr.

Derick was proud that he and his wife made the wise decision in bringing about Israel to this world, safely. Derick would not have traded his wife and son's safety for anything else, as reported in Yahoo! Parenting. Derick said:

"She had labored for so long...There's no shame in that, there's no shame in not progressing, there's no shame in getting a C-section."

Derick confessed that after the difficult C-section delivery, Derick sang "Jesus Loves Me" to Israel. The new dad felt blessed to have a new addition to the family while Jill rested after the surgery. Derick revealed the meaning the song has in his life, saying:

"[It was] the song I'd sung to him every night when Jill was pregnant. I looked at him and thought, 'This is my son. I love this person.' "

When Jill was still pregnant with Israel, Derick wrote this letter for his son:

"I pray that you, Israel, whom I already love more than anybody, except mom of course, would turn to the Lord early in your life and glorify Him with all that is within you."

Derick posted the letter on the official website of the Dillard Family, according to The Inquisitr.
