Lebron James Says He'd Vote Himself MVP This Season; News & Other NBA Award Predictions Here!

LeBron James appears to be very confident in his abilities and said that he would actually vote for himself as NBA's Most Valuable Player for the 2014-2015 season.

SBNation reported that the NBA playoffs will commence in two weeks and NBA fans and experts are already speculating which player would take home the MVP crown for the year 2015. There are six potential candidates namely James Harden of the Houston Rockets, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Russell Westbrook of the OKC Thunder, LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans and Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Fox Sports wrote that when LeBron was asked who he would vote for as MVP in the present season, he answered, "Myself."

Compared to the annual awards of previous years, which were voted on by members of the media, the new event this year is different because league players themselves do the voting. The National Basketball Player's Association prohibits players from voting for themselves during its own annual awards. However, LeBron stated that he would vote for himself if it were allowed.

LeBron said, "Guys are going to be able to recognize the guys they play against every night and what they do for their franchises."

He continued, "It's a conversation we can have at a later date. The media has done a great job every single year picking the awards. But us players get to see the guys every single day, so it's a longer conversation."

Washington Post reported that LeBron's Player Efficiency Rating is 26.0 at present, which is actually his lowest since 2007. Davis has a PER of 30.8, Westbrook has a PER of 28.6, Curry has a PER of 27.6 while Harden has a PER of 27.0. Although LeBron might not be a promising candidate based on PER, he has the advantage in terms of leading his team into the NBA Finals. Davis and Westbrook are still uncertain to join the playoffs.

Sports Illustrated wrote that LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers are second in the Eastern Conference with a 50-27 record. Another reason that might increase his chances of winning MVP is his decision to return to Cleveland with the hope of handing them their first NBA championship.

LeBron was the NBA Most Valuable Player in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013. He also bagged the Finals MVP award in 2012 and 2013. Last year, Kevin Durant of the OKC Thunder was awarded the MVP trophy.
