The Air Jordan 11 Low "Bred" is arguably the most anticipated basketball sneaker in 2015 -- and it is set to be released soon.
Kicks on Fire reported that the Air Jordan 11 Low "Bred" is set to launch on May 23, 2015 and will retail at $170. The shoe will be available at Flight Shop, Nike.com and select Jordan Brand retailers.
Sole Collector reported in March 2015 that the upcoming Jordan "Bred" 11 was originally exclusive to Michael Jordan when he was still dominant in the NBA in 1996. The sneaker is a scaled down model of the classic that he wore when the Chicago Bulls were on their way to their fifth NBA Championship title.
The sneaker features black, varsity red and white tones. Based on photos presented by Sole Collector, the low top version features the same classic features as the original. It has a black leather and ballistic mesh upper, a white midsole, black patent leather overlay, a red translucent outsole, thick black shoelaces, a black ballistic mesh tongue, red sock lining, black insole and the unique carbon fiber plate in the sole.
There is also a black Jumpman logo that is visible through the red translucent outsole, as well as a red stitched Jumpman logo at the heel against the black leather. A tag stating "Jumpman Jordan" written sideways is also present on the middle of the tongue, similar to the original. There is a white number "23" printed on the back of the shoe and another red Jumpman logo on the insole.
Sneaker News reported that the low top design and red sock lining are the two features that departed from the original version, which was high cut and featured a black sock lining. Everything else generally stayed the same, including the outsole pods and herringbone pattern, translucent sole, carbon fiber support plate and black patent leather.
The shoe has been a favorite among Jordan fans and sneakerheads since it was first released in 1995. The following retro versions made a lot of hype and were even resold at twice the original retail price or even higher. In 2014, the Jordan 11 "Concord" low was one of the top-selling basketball sneakers of the year. The same hype is expected out of the "Breds".
Retailers are yet to confirm how the Air Jordan 11 Low "Bred" will be offered on the release date. It is likely that several shops will only be selling one pair per customer or using a raffle-type approach.
