'True Blood' actor Stephen Moyer has become the latest vampire-playing actor to comment on E.L. James' bestselling novel, and soon to-be film, '50 Shades of Grey.' Moyer, who costars with Christian Grey contender Alexander Skarsgard, spoke to Mr. Porter about the allure vampires and the erotic thriller share.

"It's about romance and power and fantasy," Moyer said. "Vampires have a sort of brooding presence that goes back to Gothic literature. There's often a dark, enigmatic man involved, such as Mr. Rochester or Heathcliff. And a vampire also treats you with old-fashioned manners, while at any point he could overwhelm you and rip your life away."

"There's something very sexually exciting about that," the 43-year-old actor added. "Look at 'Fifty Shades of Grey'."

The actor, who is over a decade older than the Christian Grey lead character, is not the first to comment on the popular series. Fellow vampire-playing actor Ian Somerhalder, of 'The Vampire Diaries,' has warded off rumors that he is set to play the part, saying, it's "just talk."

Somerhalder is part of a long list of actors, which appears to grow daily, of those running for top fan pick for the lead role. The former 'Lost' actor faces fierce competition from fellow actors Matt Bomer, Henry Cavil, Alexander Skarsgard, Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling and Nicholas Hoult.

An ongoing poll by Latinos Post has 'White Collar' actor Matt Bomer in the lead with over 56 percent of the votes. Somerhalder follows closely behind with 27 percent of the votes.

Casting rumors surrounding the role opposite of Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele, has also been filled with many popular celebrities.

Up for fan favorites for the role, which has yet to be filled, include actresses Alexis Bledel, Nina Dobrev, Jennifer Lawrence, Mila Kunis and Emma Watson. Fellow actresses Emilia Clarke, Lucy Hale, Elizabeth Olsen, Amanda Seyfried and Shailene Woodley have also been mentioned.

The ongoing Anastasia Steele poll by Latinos Post has former 'Gilmore Girl' actress Alexis Bledel in the lead with 51 percent of the votes. Bledel is trailed by Mila Kunis (9.8 percent), Jennifer Lawrence (9.1 percent) and Nina Dobrev (8.3 percent).

The film is currently in pre-production phase and has only confirmed its screenwriter Kelly Marcel ('Terra Nova'). Universal Pictures and Focus films, which purchased the rights to '50 Shades of Grey' earlier this year, count Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti as the film's producers.

A release date for the first film in the series has yet to be announced.
