The legend of the woman who was turned into a mannequin after she died on her wedding day.

Pascualita

"La Popular", a very well-known bridal shop in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico is the "house" of this mannequin. There are many versions of the legend about how she got to be there. One of them says that her mother was the original owner of the shop and when her daughter died on her wedding day, she went crazy and mummified her to always have her dressed in beautiful gowns that matched her beauty. She is still in exhibition today.

Close-up to the face

She looks like a mannequin, but not a very generic one. She has some fine expression lines.

They change her dress very often, but nobody ever sees when they do it. Only the owner of the establishment and some close employees are allowed to undress/dress her.

People's prayers

Some people consider her a saint. They leave candles and pray in front of the window to ask for special favors or help in matters of love.
Some other people leave gifts to the clerks of the shop for Pascualita.
Some brides go to the bridal shop and they won't look at any dress but the one Pascualita is wearing. They say wearing it will bring good fortune in their marriage.

Her hands are filled with little lines and fine hairs, just like any human hand would be.

The shop at night.

Some people say that she changes positions during the night, moving her weight from one foot to the other or tilting her head and bending her elbows. Others claim proudly that Pascualita smiled at them. Some others feel that when they pass by, she follows them with her gaze.
