Adrian Peterson is expected to be part of the Minnesota Vikings while Lance Briggs may be acquired by the San Francisco 49ers.

CBS Sports reported that Rick Spielman, general manager of the Vikings, said that they are expecting running back Peterson to be on their roster in 2015. The 30-year-old is still under contract with the team.

USA Today reported that Peterson previously implicated in a child abuse case, which hurt his reputation. However, his agent, Ben Dogra, said that they want out of Minnesota. The Vikings, however, is not so quick to let him go.

Spielman said, "Adrian's a member of our football team. He's under contract with us. We are focused on the 2015 season, and expect Adrian to be a part of that. Our whole focus is getting ready for that season with Adrian."

NFL.com reported that Dogra is not yet asking for a trade, but only stating their dissatisfaction with the organization. Peterson currently has three years left in his contract with the Vikings valued at $45 million, although the sum is not guaranteed. The two sides appear to be growing more distant and although the Vikings might find it feasible to explore the trade market, they remain focused on their goal of playing better in the upcoming NFL season.

Meanwhile, Chicago Tribune reported that after Chris Borland and Patrick Willis retired, the San Francisco 49ers may be looking to sign free agent Lance Briggs. Briggs previously played for the Chicago Bears.

ESPN reported that the Chicago Bears will not be bringing back Lance Briggs, but the San Francisco 49ers seems keen in acquiring the linebacker. In 2008, the 49ers lost a fifth-round pick when they were found guilty of tampering while Briggs was still signed with the Bears. The 12-year veteran missed the last five games of the 2014 NFL season due to a groin injury. He has missed 11 games in the past two seasons.

Despite having slowed down in recent seasons, Briggs can still be an asset to the 49ers who just lost two of their big men, Borland and Willis. Briggs was the Bears' tackles leader in five seasons. His base salary in 2014 was $4.75 but he will not be expecting it to get any bigger if he stays in Chicago. The 49ers and Bears are also said to be interested in Tampa Bay linebacker Mason Foster. Briggs and Foster will reportedly have a workout with the 49ers soon.
