It looks like everyone's favorite 'Hunger Games' tribute Jennifer Lawrence may be playing the highly anticipated role of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of E. L. James' bestselling novel '50 Shades of Grey.' Reports have emerged that fans are warming up to the idea of the actress playing the lead role, alongside boyfriend and actor Nicholas Hoult.
According to Books & Review, Lawrence, who plays the tough-as-nails tribute Katniss Everdeen in 'The Hunger Games' series, could pull off the innocent yet sexy lead role. A poll by Fox placed the 22-year-old actress in the No. 4 spot for fan favorite.
Another actress, Mila Kunis has also been touted as a fan favorite following her being awarded Esquire's "Sexiest Woman Alive" accolade earlier this month. Conflicting reports have come out regarding whether or not the 29-year-old is even considering the role.
Both actresses join a long list of Anastasia Steele hopefuls, including Nina Dobrev, Emma Watson, Alexis Bledel, Emilia Clarke and Amanda Seyfried. Lucy Hale, Elizabeth Olsen and Shailene Woodley have also been mentioned as fan favorites.
A recent poll by Latinos Post pushed 'The Vampire Diaries' actress Nina Dobrev out of the lead and placed Emma Watson and Alexis Bledel in the lead. Kunis also gained a fan following, coming in fourth.
Lawrence's boyfriend Nicholas Hoult has also been added to the list of fan favorites for the role of Christian Grey. Actors included in the running as top picks by fans are Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Gosling, Matt Bomer, Michael Fassbender and Henry Cavill.
In the latest Christian Grey poll by Latinos Post, 'The Vampire Diaries' actor Ian Somerhalder came in the No. 1 spot with over 45 percent of the votes. 'White Collar' actor Matt Bomer followed closely behind with 25 percent of the votes.
Somerhalder and Dobrev, off-screen couple and on-screen costars on 'The Vampire Diaries,' were once the top fan picks to play Christian and Anastasia but they may find heated competition in Lawrence and Hoult.
Casting decisions have not been confirmed and it may be a while before anything is decided. The film is still in pre-production and only recently acquired a screenwriter in 'Terra Nova' creator Kelly Marcel. '50 Shades of Grey' also counts Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti as its producers.
Universal Pictures and Focus Features purchased the rights to '50 Shade of Grey' earlier this year. A release date has not been announced.
