A new Air Jordan 7 Retro is coming and it's inspired by a famous Looney Tunes cartoon character.
Nike.com reported that the Air Jordan 7 will retro for Jordan Brand's 30th anniversary and the 23rd anniversary of the Jordan VII by featuring the "Marvin the Martian" colorway. The shoe will be released on March 7, 2015 at a retail price of $190. Girl sizes will be sold at $140, preschool sizes at $80, toddler sizes at $60 and GP sizes at $45. The shoes will be available at 10:00 a.m. EST on Nike.com, with a one pair per customer limit. Other selected Nike and Jordan sneaker outlets and boutiques will also have the shoes available on Saturday.
Based on a report by SneakerBarDetroit, the colorway features black, blue graphite, infrared and retro tones. The shoe represents "Marvin the Martian", although it was named "Barcelona Nights" to avoid any legal issues. The sneaker was inspired by the colorful lights that come to life at night in Barcelona, Spain, where Michael Jordan and Team USA played in the summer of 1992. The team took home the gold that year.
The shoe presents colors similar to the Looney Tunes character, particularly the green and red. Images presented by Sneaker News revealed the shoe having a black-based nubuck upper with smooth leather. There are infrared, blue graphite and grey tones on the midsole. The tongue and rear sock lining features a colorful printed graphic and the outsole is also comprised of various colors, including a green Jumpman logo. A red Jumpman logo is stitched on the ankle areas of the shoe and there is an infrared "23" at the back. The shoelaces, insoles and heel tab are black. A printed "30" and Jumpman logo is on the insole, giving reference to Jordan Brand's 30 years in the sneaker business.
Sneaker collectors generally get the Air Jordan 7 for casual use and display purposes and not really for actual use on basketball games. The nubuck and leather upper, however, makes it a very durable basketball shoe. The rubber outsole provides great traction to deliver quick cuts and drives.
Weartesters reported that the cushioning and support of the Air Jordan 7 is better compared to its predecessors, so it can also be used by forwards. There are perforations throughout the upper that allow ventilation. The materials are good, increasing the sneaker's expected lifespan. Overall, it is a very well-rounded shoe that can be used on and off the court.
