Ronda Rousey saved herself a lot of cash by winning her latest MMA fight.
The UFC women's bantamweight champion earned a free ticket from Bob Arum after defeating Cat Zingano in just 14 seconds at UFC 184 on February 28, 2015. Rousey has remained undefeated with an 11-0 record, garnering the fastest win in defending her championship title. She executed a straight armbar to force Zingano to tap out.
TMZ previously talked to Manny Pacquiao's promoter, Top Rank head Bob Arum, the night before the Rousey-Zingano fight and Arum shared that he would hand Rousey a much-coveted free ticket to the Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather bout on May 2 if she won.
Rousey also shared with TMZ that she was training very hard for UFC 184 because she wanted to witness the boxing mega-bout live. ABS CBN News reported that Rousey was rooting for Pacquiao to win against Floyd Mayweather Jr on May 2 at MGM Grand.
Rousey said, "Pacquiao has been very, very nice to me so I'm going to root for him."
Rousey reportedly told the interviewer, "I really want to go so bad. I gotta beat Cat Zingano so I can make a couple million dollars and afford that ticket."
Travelers Today reported that a ticket for the Pacquiao-Mayweather bout is estimated to cost between $1,000 and $5,000. Ringside seats are said to cost over $41,000. Arum did say should Rousey win, she only needs to call him to claim her free ticket. It was not confirmed, however, whether Arum was serious about his offer and which seat would be provided for the women's champ.
Arum said, "She's just have to call me and I am happy to get her a ticket. I really admire her. She's a real warrior."
Bleacher Report wrote that watching the big boxing match on pay-per-view in high-definition already costs around $99.95 in the United States. The total gate is expected to be around $40 million. The bout is going to garner the biggest fight purse in the history of the sport and A-listers and celebrities are cramming to get a hold of those coveted tickets. The general public can only hope to pay for the residue, which will still be priced at $1,000 at least. Early ticket prices were set at over $4,000 while floor seats are available at over $22,000.
Nevertheless, Rousey had enough motivation to save herself the trouble and finished her opponent in seconds, showing in the process that she is the best pound-for-pound female MMA fighter at present.
