The third and final "How to Train Your Dragon" movie will have an "emotinally satisfying" ending. What does this mean? USA Today's Entertain This! said fans have to prepare tissues as this sequel will again be a tearjerker. Writer and director Dean DeBlois earlier answered why.
"It's a story of the maturation of each character, completing Hiccup's coming of age, so he becomes a character who can stand on his own. Always the ambition was to get where Cressida Cowell, who's the author of the book, was planning to go, which is the eventual disappearance of dragons and the mystery of what happened to them...It has to end in an emotionally satisfying way... The ambition is to get to where the opening lines of Cressida's first book, which is Hiccup as an adult, reflecting back on a time when there were dragons," he was quoted as saying.
For those who haven't watched the previous two movies yet, allow us to shed some light for you. "How to Train Your Dragon" is based on the books of Cressida Cowell which tells the story of Hiccup, the son of Berk's chieftain Stoick, and his adorable and cuddly dragon bestfriend Toothless.
In the first movie, we saw Hiccup trying to fit in a village which fights against dragons. Instead of fitting in, he became friends with a Nightfury whom he named Toothless. He later discovers a dragon colony captured by a big dragon called Red Death, responsible for the stealing of food supply in Berk and in other nearby villages. In the end, we saw them overcoming Red Death and freeing the dragons. The village and its people also finally made peace with the dragons.
In the sequel, we saw what happened to the village five years after the first movie. We meet villain Drago and his so called "Bewilderbeast" which later captures Toothless. We also meet Hiccup's mom, Valka and her own "Bewilderbeast." Valka have been rescuing dragons away from Drago. Toothless being under Drago's Bewilderbeast kills Stoick. But Toothless and Hiccup will later reunite and overcome Drago and his Bewilderbeast. The village then celebrates and makes Hiccup their new chieftain.
Award winning actress Cate Blanchett, who voiced Valka, expressed her excitement for the next "How to Train Your Dragon" movie. "I am really excited. I don't know what it's going to be, but Dean has such an extraordinary imagination. And he directed in such a detailed, engaged way - he holds a firm grip on the universe," she was quoted as saying by Variety.
The third and final "How to Train Your Dragon" movie is set to hit theaters in 2018. It will again feature the voices of Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Kristen Wiig, T.J. Miller, and many more.
