It seems we'll be seeing more of the adventures of best girlfriends Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda as rumors about a potential sequel have been circulating online.
Reports about a potential "Sex and the City 3" movie have become even stronger following Kristin Davis' statement at a recent event.
"I think we'd all like to do it again...We want to do it!" Davis, who plays the role of Charlotte York Goldenblatt, told E! Online.
Hints about a third "Sex and the City" movie started when Jennifer Hudson, who plays as Carrie's assistant Louise, said in an interview that she personally thinks that another sequel is happening. To which she added, "Somebody just came to me talking about that. So if it's in the talks, it might happen. So look out for your girl Louise from St. Louis."
Note that Davis also had an exchange of tweets with her co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays the role Carrie, last year which could possibly hint a third movie is coming. On October 3, Davis posted a photo of her with Parker with the caption "@SJP Miss YOU XOXOXO!! <3." To which Parker replied, "@KristinDavis Me too you! Heard the news?"
Davis again responded saying, "@SJP Yyyeessssss..... But I'm afraid to get TOO excited yet - You let me know when we can celebrate. XO." Due to this "news" emphasis, fans who were able to read the tweets reacted, asking if a third movie is indeed in the works. Parker then tried to shed some light telling one fan, "That news zooming around."
These tweets of course do not necessarily confirm or deny that "Sex and the City 3" is in the works, but note that Parker earlier revealed that she believes that "there is [another] story [to tell]." Michael Patrick King, who wrote and directed the two movies adapted from the series he produced, agrees with Parker.
"Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is. That doesn't mean it will or should be told, but I do think there's one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there's four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven't even been written yet," King was quoted as saying by Entertainment Weekly.
"What I do know is that there's interest, but with interest comes non-interest. It's all really about the stories, and if you actually think you have something left to say that would make it exciting and worthwhile for the fans' time, that's really the question. Not whether you can get away with it, not whether anybody will buy it, not whether you can make money on it. It's really like, is there enough or more to say that would justify people risking seeing their favorite characters again? And I think there's one chapter left," he added.
