Today, Acer announced its new Windows 8 enabled Acer Aspire V5 series, which will be available in both touch-screen (mutli-gesture) and non touch-screen flavors.

Consumers have the choice between 11.6, 14, and 15.6-inch displays with the V5 series. Acer is also providing a choice between a third-generation Intel Core i3, i5, or i6 processor. On the memory front, Acer provides both 500GB and 750GB options. Every entry in the V5 series is 30 percent thinner than previous iterations, and sports an Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU, a slim DVD drive, a 1.3 megapixel web camera, and a HD CinceCrystal widescreen LED-backlit display.

For those looking for a more traditional computer, the Aspire V5-171 ships sans a touch-screen. Consumers with more modern tastes may want to take a look at the Aspire V5-471P or the Aspire V5-571P, which will both ship in touch-screen enabled and non-touch screen models. The V5-171 features an 11.6-inch screen, the Aspire V5-471P a 14-inch screen, and the V5-571P a 15.6-inch screen. Each touch screen is an edge-to-edge display with 10-point touch capability. Edge-to-edge indicates that there is minimal metal or plastic securing the screen on its edges.

The Acer Aspire V5 notebooks will launch on October 26. The Aspire V5-571 without touch costs $499.99, with the V5-471P landing at $749.99.

Acer also announced two fresh installments to its Acer Aspire M5 ultrabook line. The  Aspire M5 has a 15-inch screen, is non-touch, and has a magnesium alloy chassis. The M5-481PT  has a 14-inch screen, an aluminum chassis, 10-point multi touch display, and an edge-to-edge design. The M5 line features an Intel Core i5 processor, two USB 3.0 ports, 20GB SSD, a 500GB HDD, and backlit keyboards.

The M5 series will also launch on October 26, with the M5-581T's base model priced at $699.99, and the M5-481PT starting at $799.99.
