Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys might be the next "Bachelor".
Chris Harrison, host of the reality TV series "The Bachelor", told TMZ Sports that he believes that Dez Bryant would do good as the next "Bachelor" on the show.
Harrison was in New York City when a TMZ reporter approached. Harrison commented about the freezing weather but gave enough time for a short question-and-answer.
First, he was asked about the factors that helped the show producers decide which person would make a good bachelor. Harrison replied that they would consider the person's qualities, the most popular people among fans in the last show and other people who may be outside the show.
Next, he was asked who he would consider taking the lead role if he were to pick among professional athletes. Harrison said that the guy had to be single.
Harrison said, "Well I'm selfish, I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan. So it has to be one of the Dallas Cowboys, who's single."
When asked if he had any name in particular, Harrison contemplated deeply for a couple of seconds before his eyes lit up as he exclaimed, "Dez Bryant!"
He shared his excitement over the idea and said that he was getting emotional about it. He said that putting the wide receiver on the reality TV show would be an excellent idea and would lead to a great season.
He added that in the end it would be the same issue. "Was it a catch? Was it a catch?" Harrison joked.
TMZ Sports also reported that it is not actually the first time that "The Bachelor" will feature pro athletes if Bryant does make an appearance. Before, football player Jesse Palmer, baseball player Josh Murray and soccer player Juan Pablo Galavis were also featured as bachelors.
Larry Brown Sports reported that Dez Bryant actually has a girlfriend, Illyne Nash, and a growing family. Illyne gave birth to their second child, a baby girl, Isabella Rose, on December 5, 2014. Their older son, Dez Jr, is four years old. Bryant also has a third older son, Zayne, by another mother, who is currently seven years old.
In the meantime, Bryant may be more concerned about his NFL future than being on the next season of "The Bachelor", considering how the Dallas Cowboys are still deciding whether or not to franchise him, based on a report by ESPN. The team is still waiting for the 2015 salary cap before making a final decision about the wide receiver.
