The second episode of Showtime's murder thriller 'Dexter' proved to be an exciting follow-up to the show's season seven premiere. The episode, entitled "Sunshine and Frosty Swirl," has Dexter's (Michael C. Hall) sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) try to come to terms with his admission.

According to TV Line, Sunday's episode picks up where the season premiere left off, with Deb learning the truth about Dexter's dark passenger and her father's role in it all. As she hurls on the front lawn, Dexter tells Deb that he only kills "certain kinds of people, like Travis [the Bay Harbor Butcher]." Despite being upset that Dexter's actions have occurred without her suspecting, Deb decides not to turn him in and instead decides to help him reform.

Telling Dexter that she sees the potential for him to be good, Deb says that he has no choice but to accept her help. While her intentions may be good, TV Line notes that the chances of success are slim. After all, people are who they are.

Deb uses the episode to spend every waking moment with Dexter, keeping an eye on him and making sure he doesn't commit any other murders. After she tells him her plan to spend every minute together, Dexter replies, "I hope you've got a big shower." Dexter later tells her how the pressure and desire to murder builds up before he lets it all out.

Deb's plan appears to be working (albeit not really according to plan), after Dexter goes to Louis' home to dig information about him. After Louis shows up, Dexter throttles him, forcing Louis to say he'll leave Dex alone. Despite his skepticism, Dexter lets him go only to find him at his own home later that day. Louis hints that he knows of Dexter's true identity, which doesn't go over too well with Dexter.

Giving in to his instincts, Dexter drugs Deb to find Louis, kidnaps him, syringes him and later throws him in the trunk of his car. Finally, Dexter calls Deb and is congratulates for stopping himself from doing what he normally does.

Outside of Deb's Dexter rehab plans, the episode also gave fans an update on the Ukrainian mob behind Dexter's last victim, Viktor. Mob boss Isaak Sirko, who makes a visit to Miami to find out about Viktor, takes time to plunge a screwdriver in the eye of a former bouncer for talking to police.

The end of the episode brought the most gruesome action of the night, after a murderer who's helping Miami Metro find the bodies of his victims commits suicide. He does this by jumping in front of a gas truck after telling Dexter he's made peace with himself. Deb attempts to reach Dexter, dropping frosty swirls she had just purchased in the process, but gets there too late. According to TV Line, the "reformed murderer's" suicide realize that they may be no hope for him.

The next episode of 'Dexter' airs on Sunday, October 14 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.
