Following the announcement of their first baby, Colombian singer Shakira and FC Barcelona boyfriend already planning for more children, Us Weekly reported. The couple confirmed their much-rumored pregnancy on September 19 through the 35-year-old singer's website.
According to Us Weekly, a source close to Shakira said that the new 'The Voice' mentor and Spanish footballer are ready to expand their family. "They definitely want more than one together," the unnamed source told Us Weekly. "Shakira is really looking forward to being a mother."
The mom-to-be confirmed that she and Pique are expecting a baby boy during an interview with Germany's RTL. During the interview, Shakira was in the middle of admiring photos of her interviewer's son when she confirmed the sex of her first baby.
"Will it be a son?" her interviewer asked, to which Shakira simply replied, "Yeah."
Reports of the Latina superstar's pregnancy began circulating this summer after it was reported by Colombian magazine Gente. Shakira made the announcement of her pregnancy in September on her website, saying, "As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!"
Gente was also the first to report that the "Hips Don't Lie" singer and her 25-year-old boyfriend has begun calling the baby "Ulicito" furthering rumors that the couple was expecting a baby boy. During her interview with RTL, Shakira said, "This guy [Pique] is the best thing that ever happened to me in my whole life. And now we're having a baby."
There have also been reports that the singer has toxoplasmosis, a parasitic disease that can be particularly dangerous to developing fetuses. According to HuffPost Voces, the disease is the reason why the star had kept quiet about her pregnancy for so long.
Shakira and Pique first met while filming the music video for her South Africa World Cup single "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" in 2010 but did not confirm their relationship until March 29, 2011. Pique, who is also a player for the Spanish National Team, won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 Euro Cup Championship with his team.
According to Gente magazine, the Colombian singer is expected to give birth in January 2013 through cesarean section.
