Actress Jennifer Lawrence said she can now relate to big-names stars after becoming an overnight superstar following the release of 'The Hunger Games' earlier this year. The 22-year-old, which stars as the film's lead role of Katniss Everdeen, spoke about her new-found stardom in the November issue of British Vogue.
"I was really upset the day 'The Hunger Games' came out. I was shaking all day wrapped in a blanket," Lawrence told British Vogue. The actress, who is also on the cover of the November issue, said that she understands the pressures of being in the limelight and how stars can be affected by the paparazzi, HuffPost Celebrity wrote.
Lawrence told her interviewer she was particularly concerned about what could happen to her after seeing what happened to pop singer and 'X-Factor' judge, Britney Spears. She recalled the time a friend said to her, "Dude, have you seen what they've done to Britney Spears."
The 'Hunger Games' star also spoke about keeping her fans in the loop about her whereabouts. "There's a responsibility I'm aware of. In one sense, luckily, it comes naturally because I don't stay out beyond midnight," she said. "I don't really have an exciting life."
But becoming such a high profiled celebrity has its price, Lawrence noted. "You watch these little freedoms being eroded away, like being to pump gas in peace or whatever, but it's here, and it comes and goes and leaves," she said.
The young actress' concern about paparazzi is magnified when she thinks about the possibly comments that may arise after they're published. Hollywood's propensity to promote wafer-thin actresses doesn't help she added.
"I'm so tired of the lollipops. I mean, if I looked like that I wouldn't be tired of it, obviously. But it's hilarious, the way I'm supposedly the overweight one? Like, they got me at the movies yesterday and the caption read something like 'Curvy star cannot wait to dig into tub of popcorn.' I mean, C'mon!" she said.
"I'm just a normal girl who likes to eat," she added.
But she understands the criticism and limelight comes with her line of work. "That's what I'm doing, hopefully, my job," she said. "As far as jobs go, I'd say I was pretty lucky."
The second installment of 'The Hunger Games' series, 'Catching Fire,' is already in production in Clayton County, Ga., with fellow actors Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark) and Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthorne). According to Lionsgate, principal photography for the sequel began on September 10 in Atlanta, Ga. and will proceed to film in Hawaii before wrapping up in late December 2012.The full cast list was released last month.
'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' is scheduled for theater release November 22, 2013.
