More than 80,000 football fans witnessed the surprise of a lifetime during a football game Friday.
The Faile family was chosen by the Columbia Metropolitan Airport to be honored as "Military Family of the Game" during the highly-anticipated South Carolina vs. University of Georgia football game in Columbia, S.C.
ABC News says the family, which includes mother Tammy, 41, Breanna, 15, and Cameron, 10, were escorted onto the field and introduced to the stadium. For the first surprise, a personal video from father Scott Faile, who was stationed in South Korea, was shown on the big screen.
"I have to say I'm glad we'er the ones that were chosen to be recognized today," Faile said in the video. "People don't realize the sacrifices you guys make as a family to myself and to the military.
The family began to cry.
"To my children, I can't believe the stuff you have to go through," he continued. It seem like every time you get into a new school and make new friends you turn around and have to leave."
After the video ended, Faile appeared on the sidelines. His family rushed to embrace him while the audience roared.
The video has become viral, hitting the Internet on all major news websites.
"I had been planning it for about three months," Faile said. "It was perfect timing, they had no idea. I told them that I had entered them on the SEC [Southeastern Conference] website, which was total fiction. That I had entered a drawing for tickets to the Georgia game."
