After Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson appeared at WWE Royal Rumble to save and help his cousin Roman Reigns win the big match, rumors circulated that he was going to return at WrestleMania 31.
During WWE Royal Rumble, Reigns was in a predicament, being beaten down by Big Show and Kane, but The Rock came to his rescue, performing his famous "People's Elbow" and helping Reigns get rid of the two men and win the match. Bleacher Report wrote that the last time fans saw The Rock at WWE, he battled Rusev. At WrestleMania 28 and 29, Rock and John Cena headlined the events, so fans remained optimistic that "The Chosen One" will make a comeback sometime in the future.
Since 2014, there have been a lot of talks about The Rock making a comeback at WrestleMania 31. However, there are also ongoing debates that his current star status in Hollywood would prevent him from doing anything risky that would compromise his health based on a report by Inquisitr.
Daily Wrestling News reported that it was confirmed that he will not return to the biggest WWE event in 2015 because of his filming obligations in Hollywood. Reportedly, WWE made a big pitch to the Rock, involving a lot of cash, but a deal was not signed. The Rock has a full filming schedule and his Hollywood producers are cautious about him sustaining an injury if he decides to wrestle. Currently, The Rock is filming a project for HBO which is set to debut sometime in 2016. However, fans should not be so quick to dismiss the possibility of him making even a brief appearance. Previously, The Rock and Triple H had a backstage discussion which could suggest that there might be more twists in store for unsuspecting fans.
Perhaps, if The Rock did appear at WrestleMania 31, he will be limited to a talking role or might simply congratulate his cousin if he wins against heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. He might come up with something special to help Reigns win again without getting physical himself. Fans will have to wait longer if they want to see him again in action.
The Rock has been reported to be absent at WrestleMania 31, but there are other stars that might appear for the big event. The Undertaker may most likely battle Bray Wyatt. The dream match between Undertaker and Sting are also said to happen at WrestleMania 32 before their retirement, based on another report by Inquisitr.
